Sunshine but not showers

I was excited when I ordered this umbrella. The sleek, silvery material caught my eye, and the promise of UV protection sealed the deal. I envisioned it as the perfect accessory for both rainy and sunny days. However, upon its arrival, I was taken aback. The umbrella is notably small and incredibly lightweight— even the handle knob feels petite. It gives off the impression that it's designed for children or slender adults.

While I believe it could effectively shield me from the sun's rays, I harbor doubts about its ability to withstand heavy rainfall; perhaps only light showers. Nonetheless, its compact size and feather-light weight make it convenient to carry around. Additionally, I adore the light greenish-blue interior, which adds a calming touch.

I can already envision myself using it during those sweltering summer outings under the scorching sun. However, its size means it's strictly for individual use, will not be able to share!

Another great G4Free outdoor product

G4Free Travel Umbrella is really small. It is under 12" folded. It can fit into a back pocket, backpack, glovebox, to carry for a rainy or very sunny day. I got the reflective silver and black underside model. The handle is small with an automatic release button and umbrella opens up & outward in the normal way. It collapses by hand to pull the ribs down for closing. This very unlike newer models where the handle button opens and collapses, which often gets water all over me when closing. I prefer the traditional design.

The umbrella is not very big, just enough for the umbrella holder. It's enough to cover my head for sure and my torso. Any wind driven rain will certainly get my body wet. Angling over my shoulder would keep my backpack from rain. The silver surface can be used in the summer sun to cut down on the UV exposure and lowers temperature greatly as a result. Using this umbrella when hiking under a full sun is one of the best ways to prevent sunburn and heatstroke.

Another great G4Free outdoor product.

Survived Seattle

Love the size, weight, and the ability to keep dry! This is the new favorite umbrella - fits easily in a purse or backpack that has a button that not only opens the umbrella but also retracts it - which makes it fun! It deploys very quickly and is just a blast to use. Was in Seattle, Washington and it started to rain - the umbrella was so travel worthy, didn't think it was packed - then it saved the day! The umbrella held up to days of near constant rain that covered the spectrum of light drizzle to pounding hail and this little guy was up to all the challenges! Never traveling without it, cheers!

Compact and Cute

My plan is to keep this umbrella in my car for unexpected rain showers and for times I need relief from the heat. Living in Texas, I’m sure it will be used for both purposes. It’s lightweight and small enough to fit it a purse or backpack. The color combo is unique and really like it. The auto open/close feature works well. I wouldn’t want to use it for a deluge, but it will be great for light rain showers.

Easy to carry around, compact, easy open/close

Product: G4Free Travel Umbrella Ultralight UPF 50+ UV Protection Compact Umbrella Super Slim Small Mini Automatic Sun Umbrellas

ASIN: B0CH37STHV

This umbrella is very easy to carry around due to its slim and compact size. When I first opened it in the rain I was surprised by how big the umbrella was, it was able to cover me fully, including the backpack I had on. I really like how the umbrella is able to open by simply pressing one button, and that same button can also close it. My only problem with this umbrella is that it is very hard to collapse it back to its original position after closing it. It is difficult to push down from the tip of the umbrella.

The Verdict

The Verdict: Buy It

I have been looking for this since Samsonite stopped selling them. Yes this exact umbrella used to sell in Samsonite stores and marked as Samsonite. This is the most compact umbrella I've seen yet. Works really well and do last a long time.

VERY compact and small

This travel umbrella is very compact and small. I expected it to be due to the name. The size of the umbrella itself (when opened) is fine for one person, but the issue I have with this umbrella is the size of the handle. It is very small and therefore it's a bit difficult to press the open and close buttons - there's not a lot of space left to grip the handle if you're trying to press the buttons. The open and close features are spring-release and they work well. The umbrella pops open with one press, and then collapses the top portion with one press as well. After it's collapsed, you just have to press the telescoping stem back down into the base and you're good to go. This umbrella is small enough to easily fit in a normal-sized purse.

ultra portable, good for 1 person

This is a very lightweight, ultra portable umbrella that is perfect for traveling or regular use if you are trying to reduce how much you have to carry. The trade off is that it is not very large and is essentially good for one person. The material also is not as thick as some other umbrellas so I'm not sure how well it would do in very windy situations. The handle is also very slim so there is not much to hold on to. The push button is responsive and opens and collapses the umbrella as expected. As long as you have the right expectations, this is an excellent option if your primary concern is something that is very small and light and does not take up much room in a bag.

Small Travel Umbrella

This is a small travel umbrella that has UPF 50+ UV Protection.

At 10 inches, it is small enough for a bag or the pocket of a car door.

What I like about this umbrella is that it is fully automatic. You press a button to open it and then press the same button to close it.

This is a great little umbrella to have on hand in case of an unexpected afternoon shower or just to use in excessively sunny areas as sun protection.

The construction is fiberglass and aluminum, built to last.

So far, it seems very good and has great ease of use and enough coverage.

Maybe Too Lightweight

This is a decent umbrella that is optimized for weight and size. it is very lightweight compared to all my other umbrellas, including compact folding umbrellas. And it is short enough to easily stuff into a pocket or bag.

It opens and closes easily with the push of the button on the handle. It is not very big when open. I have had larger and smaller umbrellas and this one is on the smaller side. So expect your legs to get wet as you walk.

But is so lightweight that I wonder how long it will last. The fabric itself is thinner than my other umbrellas. It does not have the windproof flap to permit a gust to blow through without flipping the umbrella inside-out. So I expect that at some point this umbrella will catch a gust and break on me. But to be fair, I just got it and it has worked well for the one rain day to date.

Tiny and lightweight, best for rain not sun

This umbrella is definitely going on trips with me because it's small and ultra lightweight! It also opens up small, so it's really just for emergency, quick coverage; it's not going to be able to cover more than one person. The operating mechanism worked perfectly for opening and closing.

The only thing that gives me pause with this is that light comes streaming through, so I'm not sure about the claim that this will filter out UV light. I got the version with the blue underside and silver outside. I think it is better for rain, and I won't count on it to protect me from the sun.

Pretty good umbrella - great for travel

This little umbrella is just the right size for traveling. It fits easily in my backpack or in a small carry bag. It opens and closes at the push of a button on the handle. It feels a bit flimsy, so I don’t expect it to survive in wind. It is quite small, so it’s for one person and even then, mostly to keep my head and shoulders out of the rain. For occasional use, especially when traveling, it will work fine.

Great travel umbrella

The first thing I noticed about this umbrella was the compact size and light weight. It fits the side pocket of my backpack well, but would easily fit in a car glove box. It has an automatic opening feature that works smoothly. You do have to manually close the umbrella but that’s not a big deal to me. It claims to offer UV protection as well…I’m more concerned about staying dry. The umbrella is relatively small when open, so it is not large enough for 2 people, but it works just fine for the solo traveler. No complaints so far.

Packable

This umbrella is small enough to slip into a large pocket. It can be used for sun or rain, but it's not great in the wind. It feels a little delicate and wobbly. A little bit of research informs me that a silver top and dark underside is actually best for a sun umbrella.

Great little travel umbrella

Simple auto-opening/auto-closing umbrella small enough to be kept anywhere. The footprint of the opened umbrella is small, but that's what it is. It sheds water nicely, and when I came back inside after walking the dog (who is terrified of it opening) on a rainy day, I was pleasantly surprised at how little water there was on it. One or two shakes and nearly all the water was off, meaning it was completely dry shortly thereafter. Good umbrella for the money for sure if you're looking for something to stash in your car or purse or something.
